Metadata Specialist-PT

Information International Associates, Inc. (IIa) a woman-owned small business headquartered in Oak Ridge, TN with offices in Hyattsville, MD and Falls Church, VA, is interviewing for a part-time Metadata Specialist. Work is centered in the Washington DC metro area. Work may be performed remotely with occasional travel to client sites.

Requirements:
• B.S or equivalent experience in environmental science, ecology, biology, chemistry, informatics, related sciences or applied fields such as environmental monitoring, toxicology, hydrology, etc. M.S. or M.L.S. preferred
• Experience with scientific data
• Experience in metadata, taxonomy and controlled vocabulary development, and search and retrieval in the sciences
• Experience with and thorough understanding of relevant standards such as geospatial (OMG and FGDC), Dublin Core, ISO 11179, etc.
• Attention to detail and proven analytical skills
• Independent worker
• Good written and verbal communication skills
