Assistant Library Director
General Summary Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Assistant Library Director serves as second in command of the Greenburgh Public Library. Provide leadership to the library staff and represent the library in the community in a professional manner. Supervise the daily operation and management of the library, its materials, facilities, and staff, efficiently and effectively. The Assistant Director will be responsible for all aspects of public service. A successful candidate has knowledge of modern principles and practices of library services and administration; ability to exercise leadership and motivate others, to plan and coordinate the work of others, to write concise reports, analyze community and user needs, material collection and service effectiveness. Must have the ability to train and supervise staff; possess initiative and tact. Must be computer literate with strong computer skills particularly in using Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technological advancements as they arise. Requirements: Degree in Librarianship from a library school that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department. New York State Public Librarian Certificate Five years of satisfactory professional library experience, at least 3 years of which must have been in an administrative capacity. Candidate must qualify to take the Assistant Director III test as administered Westchester County Department of Human Resources. General Information: Excellent benefits package including Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance,20 vacation days per year, 13.5 paid holidays per year, 12 sick days per year, unlimited sick time accumulation, NYS Retirement System, 403(b) Deferred Compensation available, Flexible Spending Account. Westchester County Civil Service appointment, non-union administrative position. Thirty-five hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:30 am " 5:30 pm. Candidate must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.
